Celebrate Change

Buckle Up!

Imagine if the technological progress of the 20th century were compressed into less than a decade. We would have gone from flying being thought a mirage, to airplanes, to a man on the moon and ICBMs in a matter of years. This is what I expect the 2030s to look like across science and technology.
-Leopold Aschenbrenner, June 2024

If you have been following the growth of AI, you have probably heard about Nvidia and their record growth. What you might have missed is their projections for the next several years. If things go according to plan, Nvidia and their competitors will be supplying chips and hardware for a completely massive and unprecedented computer buildout, the likes of which we have never seen before. The sheer amount of AI computing power will be hard to comprehend, both in terms of GPUs deployed and dollars spent.

Futurists have been speculating about AI super-intelligence for decades, and now it appears to be just on the horizon. The downstream changes from this explosion of AI are difficult to fully imagine - but implications and impact will be felt across every level of business and culture. It’s time to Buckle Up!

How will we tolerate and adapt to this level of change - let alone Celebrate Change?

1). Draw From Your Core Beliefs
Core beliefs will become more important as change accelerates, so take time to truly think about what’s important and how you define success. A reliable internal compass will be priceless.

2). Brace For Higher Highs and Lower Lows
The upsides and downsides will both be more pronounced in the years ahead. Brace yourself for tremendous breakthroughs and terrifying setbacks. The “Golden Mean” can serve as a way to level set your expectations and fears, and meet any occasion with equanimity.

3). Move Slow So You Can Change Fast
Pace yourself by unplugging and keeping perspective. Just because the world is changing at breakneck speed does not mean your body or nervous system can run at breakneck speed. Make sure you keep your health by deliberately slowing down whenever possible.
