Why the Feeling Is the Secret

When you assume the feeling of your wish fulfilled it is with a minimum of effort. You must control the direction of the movements of your attention. But you must do it with the least effort. If there is effort in the control, and you are compelling it in a certain way you are not going to get the results. You will get the opposite results, what ever they might be.

Neville Goddard repeatedly tried to convey the idea that “the feeling is the secret”. But what exactly was that feeling, and why is it a secret?

The above quote provides some additional clarity on what Neville was trying to describe: The “feeling” Neville is describing is controlled attention, but in a relaxed state when thinking about the wish fulfilled. It’s important to understand that for Neville, the “wish fulfilled” was a full immersive imagining of what it would be like for a particular goal to become true. So “least effort” means that in the imagination there is a light, almost inevitable feeling of joy when thinking about your wish fulfilled. It doesn’t take any effort to remember your previous favorite moments in life. If anything, these memories of your prior wishes fulfilled generate a great deal of positive energy.

To generate changes in the future state, you must learn to simply travel to that future state with the same effortless enthusiasm and clarity that you use to recall prior positive moments in your life. That is the principle of least effort for Celebrating Change. Link whatever change you are contemplating to an exciting moment(s) from your past, and send that same emotion and energy and feeling into the future state of your new wish fulfilled until that future wish is radiating on the same level of happiness as prior events.
