It is not our natural inclination to steer towards discomfort. We go to tremendous lengths to ensure that our heating and cooling systems are perfect, our fridges are well-stocked, and there is hot water in the tank. Then we sit down on the comfortable couch and watch Man vs. Wild adventure shows on the large screen TV.

However, if you want to achieve exponential results you will need to engage with exponential effort - levels of work and activity that will push you outside of your comfort zone, probably wayyyy outside of your comfort zone!
Keep in mind that the goal here is not to suffer, but to snap out of your current routine of comfortable habits so that you can produce and excel at higher levels. It might be painful, but pain is a symptom, not the goal.
In every discipline, there are next level performers that you can model and learn from in order to hone your craft and improve. The beauty of this goal-setting mindset is that it brings its own reward, regardless of the competition. Next level performers are not there for you to “beat” - they are there to show you just how much more is possible!
The more you can focus on the sheer enjoyment of trying to improve, the faster your results. Don’t structure your goals the other way around with the idea that you will work and suffer for some future enjoyment at the end of the road. Instead, learn to reframe the entire process of engagement and effort as enjoyable in itself. Mistakes, discomfort, uncertainty, doubt. These are not imperfections to avoid, but signposts that you are moving forward.
