Keep Kind Intentions
The Quantum Power of Doing
Doing is a quantum leap from imagining.
- Barbara Sher
Having kind intentions is worthless if we don’t actually follow through and do the kind deeds. Doing is truly a quantum leap from imagining - especially when it comes to kindness.
So how can we learn to “do kindness”?
1). Be Alert to Others
The foundation of kindness is first and foremost to simply be alert and aware of others. While this sounds obvious, the fact is that in today’s world we are massively distracted and absorbed into our own stream of thought, our own devices, and our own worries and goals. Pay attention to others and you will be amazed at what you can learn.
2). Keep It Simple
99 times out of 100, kindness does not need to be a big deal. If you are alert to others and take a moment to listen, it does not require a PhD in psychology to gauge what might be helpful or kind. “A little kindness goes a long way” is a folk saying that is packed with truth.
3). Avoid Being Unkind
Another powerful saying is “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”. Unkind words and deeds can carry even more weight and power than kind words, so be vigilant not to be malicious or unkind to others, especially just out of habit.
In today’s distracted world, simply by being alert to others, keeping things simple and avoiding unkind words, you will move into the elite level of doing kindness.
