Keep Kind Intentions
Start A Chain Reaction of Kindness
"Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love." – Lao Tzu
As Lao Tzu alluded to, kindness creates a predictable chain reaction of positive impact. If we truly understood the full power of this kindness chain reaction, we would sequester all the best thinkers, sinners and saints out in the desert and work day and night to build an atomic kindness bomb.
Unfortunately, most of us carry a little pocket lighter of kindness that we occasionally, randomly flicker at someone near us before moving on with the “real work” at hand.
So, what are some specific and reliable ways to build a kindness chain reaction so that we can start harnessing this power for good?
1). Keep Kind Words - for yourself and others.
The power of words to spark the flame of kindness is unmatched. Be careful to use kind words for yourself and others. Common manners and courtesy are a kind of everyday kindness, so be sure to start there - but then think of ways to add some unexpected words of kindness to those you meet.
2). Keep Kind Thoughts - for yourself and others.
Your inner dialog can easily turn into an uncensored avalanche of negative thoughts, towards yourself and others. Don’t waste time and energy in this inner dance of petty destruction. It’s a type of indulgence that no one can really afford and will inevitably spill out of your head and into reality via the Law of Attraction. The opposite also holds true - your positive kind thoughts towards others sets up a field of positive attraction for them that is not precisely quantifiable, but is absolutely real.
3). Do Kind Deeds - for yourself and others.
The word and deed go hand in hand. Back up your kind words with simple kind deeds. This is where the kindness chain reaction starts to gain momentum and can trigger unexpected benefits. Don’t overthink these kind deeds - they are usually something simple and in the moment.
4). Build a Kindess Chain
Keep doing one small act after another, regardless of the immediate impact. Be sure to keep doing kind deeds, no matter how dark or depressing the situation may seem. Kind words and deeds have a quantum power that we have not actually taken time to measure - but it is every bit as great as what physicists unlocked at Los Alamos.
5). Aim Beyond Your Immediate Network.
Poet George Herbert famously wrote:
Love is swift of foot;
Love’s a man of war
And can shoot,
And can hit from far.
With a bit of aiming and practice, your acts of kindness can swiftly move far beyond your immediate surroundings and “hit from far”. In today’s world, everything has been brought in very close, all the time, so don’t underestimate how far and how fast you can send a kind deed.
Conclusion
Keeping Kind Intentions takes practice, but as you experiment with this readily available quantum power source, you will definitely be surprised by how consistently small acts of kindness deliver immeasurable results, near and far.
