Motion Beats Mood
The First Five Minutes Are Always Ugly
“You are giving up instead of getting hard! Tell the truth about the real reasons for your limitations and you will turn that negativity, which is real, into jet fuel. Those odds stacked against you will become a damn runway!”
- David Goggins
Don't wait to feel fast. You move, then you are.
Most people treat speed like a mood. They wait until they feel sharp. Until the plan is clean. Until Tuesday's energy shows up on Wednesday. That waiting is the work they never start.
Motion beats mood. The first five minutes are always ugly. The sentence is wrong. The email is too short. The run is slow. That is not failure. That is ignition.
If you wait for the feeling, the day will take it from you. If you start, the feeling often follows. Not always. Often enough to build a life on.
Three moves. Not a system. A morning:
Name the first five minutes. Not the project. The first five minutes of it.
Start before you check anything that can steal the hour.
Finish those five minutes. Then you can judge it. Not before.
Speed is not talent. It’s simply the refusal to negotiate with the mood.
Name your first five minutes. Then go do them!
