Own Your ONE Thing

When Preparation Meets Opportunity

"Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity." — Seneca

Preparation takes many forms. At its simplest, preparation means carving out time each day to make sure your work goes well. For more complex tasks and projects, preparation can mean weeks or months of planning, anticipation and attention to detail all focused on your ONE Thing.

While luck is a welcome factor in your final launch, - you don’t want to be getting on a rocket ship and relying on a lucky break! As Seneca observes, preparation creates its own luck.

Preparing is in many ways an exercise in patience and delayed gratification. This is why we often talk about the need to “enjoy the process” or the “effort is the reward”. When you can see each practice session, each planning step, each backup system as part of your larger ROCKET Goal, then you don’t need to rely on getting a lucky break or some endorphin rush to stay focused on your ONE Thing.

See your ONE Thing - not just as the end goal, but as the entire constellation of work and effort and preparation that gets you to the launch pad and then into orbit and beyond.

Legendary preparation is the foundation for legendary success, and the source of continuous good luck.
