Remember Your Future Self

Get the Future Out of Your Mind

"A founder is not a job, it's a role, an attitude. And it's something that can happen again and again and again, and in fact it has to happen again and again and again, otherwise we would not move forward." - Jack Dorsey

Jack Dorsey is best known as the founder of Twitter and also the payment processor company called Square.

Dorsey’s design ethos for Twitter was simplicity, constraint, and craftsmanship. This is the attitude and mindset that allowed him to develop one of the world’s leading social media platforms.

This same mindset is critical when Remembering Your Future Self - keep the story simple and inspiring in your minds eye. A myriad of supporting details will emerge over time to support your vision - but the key to Remembering Your Future is to keep the main plot as simple and well-crafted as you can.

1). Just pick one or two simple scenes that symbolize your overall success, and lock them into your memory.
2). Make those scenes as excellent and well-crafted as possible, full of positive emotion and success. You are imaging a future attitude, not a just some random job.
3). Remember Your Future Self over and over again, recalling your key scenes in concentrated short bursts.

4). When ever possible, start moving your future self out of your mind’s eye and into a prototype, drawing, outline, proposal etc.

When done correctly, remembering a future moment of success should take no more effort than remembering a past moment of success - and should be every bit as enjoyable and energizing!
