Transform Time With Your Team

Gather Your Daily Mastermind

The Master Mind principle: Two or more people actively engaged in the pursuit of a definite purpose with a positive mental attitude, constitute an unbeatable force.
- Napoleon Hill

For those of you not familiar with Think and Grow Rich, author Napoleon Hill recounts the powerful impact that his mastermind group had on his success journey. What’s most incredible about his “team” is that they were entirely virtual and imaginary!

“Long before I had ever written a line for publication, or endeavored to deliver a speech in public, I followed the habit of reshaping my own character, by trying to imitate the nine men whose lives and life-works had been most impressive to me. These nine men were, Emerson, Paine, Edison, Darwin, Lincoln, Burbank, Napoleon, Ford, and Carnegie. Every night, over a long period of years, I held an imaginary Council meeting with this group whom I called my "Invisible Counselors."

The procedure was this. Just before going to sleep at night, I would shut my eyes, and see, in my imagination, this group of men seated with me around my Council Table. Here I had not only an opportunity to sit among those whom I considered to be great, but I actually dominated the group, by serving as the Chairman.

I had a very DEFINITE PURPOSE in indulging my imagination through these nightly meetings. My purpose was to rebuild my own character so it would represent a composite of the characters of my imaginary counselors.”

Hill goes on to describe how he would assign each of his team members particular roles that called upon their particular genius. Apparently these meetings grew so well established that Hill started noticing that certain characters would seemingly start wondering off on their own accord - and also provide exceptionally helpful advice.

While you can certainly create your own team of imaginary Masterminds, in today’s day and age, it has become incredibly easy to bring together like-minded real people from around the world! Here’s a five-step framework to create your own modern mastermind group, incorporating principles from the ROCKET Goals framework.

Step 1: Clarify Your Vision and Purpose (Remembering Your Future Self)
- Define Your Objective: Start by clearly defining the purpose of your mastermind group. What goals do you hope to achieve? This could range from business growth, personal development, to specific projects. As Hill would say, what is your DEFINITE PURPOSE?

- Envision Your Future Self: Like Hill, envision your future self and what you aim to become. This vision will guide the selection of your mastermind group members and the direction of your group's efforts.

Step 2: Identify and Invite Your Members (Owning Your ONE Thing)
- Select Diverse Expertise: Choose members who bring diverse perspectives and expertise. Look for individuals who not only align with your vision but also challenge and complement your skills.

- The ONE Thing: Each member should have a unique skill or perspective that makes them indispensable to the group. This follows the principle of "Owning Your ONE Thing," ensuring that every member brings something valuable to the table.

Step 3: Establish Structure and Norms (Celebrating Change)
- Set Regular Meetings: Use platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams to schedule regular meetings. Establish a routine that respects everyone’s time and commitments.

- Create a Creative Space: Encourage openness and creativity. Just as Hill had a definite purpose for his meetings, your group should foster a culture where challenges and creative solutions are discussed openly, and failures are seen as opportunities for growth.

Step 4: Keep Kind Intentions and Engage with Exponential Effort
- Engage Actively: Encourage active participation by assigning roles or topics for each meeting. This keeps the sessions dynamic and ensures that all members are engaged and contributing.

- Hold Each Other Accountable: Like David Goggins' philosophy of embracing challenges and personal accountability, members should hold one another accountable for their commitments and efforts towards the group's collective goals.

Step 5: Transforming Time with Your Team
- Regular Reflection: Incorporate a habit of reflecting on the group’s progress towards its goals. What strategies have been effective? What could be improved? Challenge your team to pull forward and accelerate your shared goals!

- Evolve and Expand: Be open to evolving the group’s focus or membership as goals are achieved or interests shift. Continuous improvement should be a core principle, aligning with the CREW model’s emphasis on Expanding Horizons and Wisdom through Mentorship.

Conclusion
In today's digital environment, the possibilities for collaboration and connection are boundless. By leveraging technology and embracing the principles of both the ROCKET framework and the wisdom of pioneers like Napoleon Hill you can create a powerful mastermind group that truly propels each member towards their individual and collective goals.
